About Ellie

Elpiniki (Ellie) Tsapatsaris is a filmmaker, dancer, and choreographer. She graduated from Swarthmore College in 2024 with High Honors and degrees in Film and Media Studies, Economics, and Dance Choreography. As a lover of music, Ellie uses her experience as a Chamber Orchestra violist to bring a precise, musical quality to her film editing and choreography. She has interacted with the film industry in a variety of ways, from working as an on-set production assistant to her involvement as a screener for the Telluride Film Festival.

Besides being an integral member of larger projects, Ellie’s creative and academic work has been recognized by industry professionals. Four of Ellie’s original films have been accepted into various film festivals, with her dance film Call Time being awarded prestigious Jury Awards at both the Tri-Co Film Festival and the Bucknell Intercollegiate Film Festival. Ellie is a two-time recipient of the Hally Jo Stein Memorial Award for Dance in recognition of her outstanding choreography and leadership within the Swarthmore College Dance program, and her choreography was showcased in Kun-Yang Lin Dancers’s 56th Inhale/Exhale Performance Series. Her writing on film has also been acknowledged within academic and extracurricular contexts, diversifying her recognized multimedia portfolio. Ellie extends her interest in the arts beyond creative projects: Her work in the statistical analysis paper “Exploring Gender Inequality in Hollywood” earned a 3rd place national ranking in The Undergraduate Statistics Project Competition.
